Review And Refine Experiments.

 During the project we have experimented with a variety of materials such as acrylic paints, water colour, colouring pencils, different types of food, objects and paper. By using these materials we praticed techniques like water colour based typography, calligrams, manipulating text of photoshop and illustrator, paper cutting out text. 

I looked at many artist work, imitated their work, my favourite were Hennie Haworth as I like her handmade technique. I have analysed Oscar Wilsons work.

 I wanted to make the saying I use relevant and linked to the material I use to create the type. I collected these saying from song lyrics and phrasing that I have learnt over a period of time.

 After I have posted onto the blog I always annotate how I created it and who inspired me. This helps me to confirm the procedure and the new knowledge that I have just learnt.

 I like all of the hand made typography techniques as it allowed be to be creative and in control with my final outcome, in the future I would concentrate more on digital technique, to improve them but to also allow myself to knowledge with the final outcome.

I found the digital typography techniques were difficult as you had to understand all the technique steps and you can easily get stuck. I need to keep practicing my techniques.

 I will be developing handmade cutting stencils to produce a printed t-shirt.

I could research extra artists to review their technique to inspire me to create my own.

My Own Work

This work was inspired by an artist called Si Scott  who using Illustrator to create text. he specifically uses the warp and twirl tool to create this effect.  I really like Si Scott's work because he make the lettering look much more interesting to look at. When I look at his work it makes me think of advertising for magazines, as this is the type of work I work expect to see.  I decided to create one of my own in illustrator. I then typed out my text and then used to warp and twirl tool to make my text look more like Si Scott's I really liked using this effect as I think it work really well for a t-shirt design. It also is very expressive and can come up with some very interesting design. I am interested in using this for my final design and if doing this in the future I would spend time really concentrating, maybe making the text smaller and having much of a complex design with the lines.

Handmade.

Debbie Smyth work has been created by hand with pins and thread of different colours and then been photographed in Photoshop.I really like Smyth's work as it has a sense of movements and flowing with the lines
Inspired by the work of Debbie Smyth using material such as pins, wool and foam board. First of all you made out your letter with your pins, after that you the went around you're pins however you wanted to and made a design. I particularly liked this effect as you could be free with it and build upon the layers of wool continuously going over and over.

I preferred doing this handmade technique as you have more control over the end result. To improve each piece i could experiment with different colours and create more letters, even a word or a phrase.

AS Graphics - In Depth Analysis - Oscar Wilson

Oscar Wilson is an artist specialized in image creation and hand craft typography. He was founded in 1996 opening a gallery in London. He an contemporary artist currently working now on London tourist campaign on London advertisement. His Clients include Nike, Puma, Visit London and Orange.The theme around his work was London, you can visit his website www.studiooscar.com. He specializing in typography, constructing to be visually attractive to make advertising work and entice people to come to London.

The artist looks like he uses Illustrator and Photoshop by using bold and warp effects and adjusting the font sizes and the layout. He uses a limited pallet, to make sure that there not too busy. Only using 3-4 colours maximum. The colours that he used were also quite relative to object that that he was creating. I think that this was put into place to reinforce what the object was and not making the idea too complicated. I would associate this type of work with advertisement, as we know that the artist does and worked for major clients. The composition is shape in the objects, the use of text and playing around with the scales to fit,into the objects making it very clear what they are.

When I first looked at this work I really liked it because I like the uniqueness of it. I had never seen somebody else do it. I was also interested in how it was created and how he thought of doing this way. I like by using to basic colour it doesn't make this too complicated and sometimes less is more.It evoked my visual senses as I wanted to read what the letters said and what they meant to the work. I really liked looking at Oscar Wilson's work.
